Antidotea is house of tea where they offer approximately one hundred types of tea. The tea is prepared in a specialized vapor machine named Alpha Dominche by Steampunk. The uniqueness of this machine is operated by a portable tablet in which a digital application controls different parameters, such as: temperature, pressure and agitation. Each variety of tea requires a different parameter and this system guarantees the same results. The studio involvement was design-build. The overall concept was to create a space where the tea is its main protagonist and helps to contribute a further appreciation of tea. Our solution was to create a 13-foot exhibition area with 100 stainless steel tea containers. In order to maintain the design practical, we design-build a sliding steel ladder that runs across the area.
The general design is monochromatic with neutral grey colors that contrast with the color teal, which is found selectively in the hexagon floor tiles and walls. To add texture, we added monochromatic brick veneer on some of the walls. The bar/counter bar carpentry is fabricated pine plywood that was treated with steel brush, in order to create a more rugged texture. Once the treatment was done it was tinted white and washed with a walnut tint. A white Carrara marble was placed as a countertop to contrast with the rugged finish.
